The NCUT Tactile Optimization and User-Centric Haptics (TOUCH) Lab and Robotics Group offers innovative solutions on the use of haptics and visuotactile sensors for manufacturing automation, industry training and medical training. We also offer automation solutions using AI technology and system optimization. Students will be recruited from our partner universities in Germany, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam. Duration of the internship will be from January 2025 to December 2025. We are proposing a comprehensive project designed to integrate advanced technologies across multiple sectors, particularly in thermal power plants, healthcare, and consumer electronics. Students will engage in a variety of initiatives, including the development of a predictive AI early warning system for thermal power plants, an innovative hearing assistance device that utilizes bone conduction technology, a digital set-top box for production line applications, haptic gloves for medical and industrial training, visuotactile sensors for measuring knee force, and an RFID-based temperature monitoring system for medical specimens. This initiative not only aims to enhance operational efficiency and safety across industries but also provides participants with invaluable training and hands-on experience in cutting-edge technology.

The students will be assigned to different projects proposed by the industry or the professors. We will set up meetings with the companies when necessary and if possible do a plant visit. Whenever necessary we will bring the students to actual project or manufacturing sites. Minimum internship duration is 4 months to a maximum of 6 months. Stipend can range from NT$12,000 to NT$15,000. Materials needed during the projects will be provided.
