Overview Climate change has led to rising temperatures, shifting precipitation patterns, and an increasing frequency of extreme weather events, resulting in severe environmental and societal impacts. These include water scarcity, urban flooding, ecosystem disruptions, and heightened risks to energy security. Addressing these challenges requires multifaceted strategies to reduce carbon emissions, manage water resources, and enhance disaster resilience. This internship program, hosted by the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at National Chung Cheng University, provides international students with hands-on experience in numerical simulation—an essential tool for analyzing complex environmental processes, optimizing resource use, and planning for climate resilience.
The program focuses on key areas such as geothermal energy development, CO₂ geological sequestration, water resource management during droughts, and flood mitigation in urban areas. Numerical simulation is a versatile technology that can be applied globally, offering particular benefits for developing countries where access to advanced sustainability solutions may be limited. Interns will work alongside faculty members on cutting-edge research projects, gain practical training in numerical modeling, and contribute to real-world solutions for climate change adaptation and mitigation.
