The “Investigation on Potential Aquatic Plants in Thailand for Medicine and Healthy Food Supplement” TEEP program as international student acquisition will be submitted for reviewing. The project is based on the “Biotech and Medical Technology Industries” in Six Core Strategic Industries and “Biomedical” in 5+2 Industrial Transformation Plan which are promoted by governmental authorities. Herb medicine is wildly used in Thailand for a long time as well as in Taiwan; however, the utilization on aquatic plants for physiological activity seems not be valued as terrestrial plants. Nowadays, medical aquatic herbs are cultivated to obtain stable output, while some of them even could fertilize aquaculture pond and use as feed such as Azolla pinnata, Lemna perpusilla, and Nuphar shimadai HAYATA (endemic species in Taiwan). Kasetsart University (KU) is the largest university in Thailand, #781-791 in QS World University Rankings 2025, and specializes in life sciences, science, engineering, social sciences, and humanities, especially in aquacultural research. An overseas internship for students was held by Department of Nutrition and Health Sciences (DNHS) in Chang Gung University of Science and Technology (CGUST) with Faculty of Fisheries (FoF) in KU at May, 2024. Successively, professors in FoF and International Affair Divisions of KU visited DNHS/CGUST at July. Within the communication between KU/CGUST, idea of collaboration on surveying the physiologically active Thailand aquatic plants has derived accompanying with the up-coming MOU. The aim of the present project is to explore the bioactivities of aquatic plants in Thailand of interest from FoF/KU, and continue to recruit 3 undergraduate students (20 years or older) in FoF/KU for implementing experiments in CGUST. Four-month duration internship, will be designed by consent between FoF/KU and DNHS/RCFCS/CGUST. Students from KU will be offered 15K NTD per month as fellowship. The bilateral reciprocity of academic interflow will be achieved by the present project, and look ahead for further collaboration for joint-call research opportunity.
