Nanomaterials show exciting properties that cannot be found in conventional materials. Despite nearly 40 years of study in nanomaterials, we have barely scratched the surface. We have devised a new method to create nanomaterials with unprecedented speed and complexity using laser-heated electrochemistry. The problem now is to optimize the processes toward compositional purity and morphological uniformity toward using these nanomaterials in electronic devices, sensors, and energy generators. Toward this goal, we will employ computer-based processing and machine-learning-based analysis.
We are looking for materials scientists, mechanical engineers, and data scientists who are interested in helping with specific aspects of our challenge. We will train you in the operation of our equipment and track your progress through mentors and meetings. Our group consists of ~20 students (50% foreigners) from various fields . The details of the project will be developed based on your interests and skills.
