The internship will offer exceptional opportunity for the participants to use sophisticated ultrahigh vacuum molecular beam epitaxy systems to prepare 2D ultrathin films (down to sub monolayer) of transitional metal dichalcogenides. The focus targets include intercalated thin films, heterostructure films that exhibit particular structural, electronic, and magnetic properties. The ultrathin films will be characterized by in situ optics (Raman) and scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy techniques.
The preferred internship duration is 6 months. The applicants are ideally in the condensed matter physics/chemistry background and are in either MSc or PhD programs. Hands-on laboratory experiences are much desired. Highly self-motivated interns are encouraged to apply. The participants can expect to get university dormitory priority. The monthly subsidy is $15K NTD, and can be increased based on exceptional performance. CCMS and the hosting group will provide office space and needed resources for the interns.
