To nurture international young talents to explore the sustainability concept toward net-zero emission initiative tackling the green energy and renewable energy industries from microalgae technology At the end of the short-term internship program, the following will be
1. Exposure to international internship experience with different culture in Taiwan university.
2. Cultivated young talents will adopt mindset to implement sustainable practices for green and renewable energy development.
3. Opportunity to increase research activities and publication output with international collaborators.

Execution: January 2024 to December 2024 (prior to discussion)

Arrangement plan of internship:
Group meeting:
     • Weekly research group meeting to update on the research progress, challenges, results and output (research presentation and discussion)
     • Monthly group meeting with host university supervisor, student (interns) and home university supervisor (research presentation and discussion)
Output: Allow a consistent research progress monitoring between the host university supervisor, students and home supervisors

Systematic literature studies:
     • Drafting a review paper on the topic of net-zero emission and microalgae technology
Output: Enables the intern to overcome issue raised in the research topic and during experimental work. Intern will also improve their English writing skills and exposure to the research publication.

Laboratory duty:
     • Cultivation of microalgae using BG-11 medium
     • Cultivation of microalgae using food waste processing medium
     • Extraction of lipid, protein and carbohydrate from food waste cultivated microalgae biomass
     • Conversion of green energy-derivatives such as biofuels, bio-ethanol, bio-gas and bio-hydrogen
Output: Hands-on lab activities for the cultivation of microalgae using synthetic medium (BG-11) and food waste processing medium. Intern will learn how to apply theoretical concept in realistic green energy application.
