1. Introduction Low-carbon renewable fuel technologies are particularly suitable for regions abundant in biomass or with high population density facing waste management issues. Especially under the goals of carbon neutrality and sustainable development, the exchange of experiences in net-zero carbon technologies and the cultivation of international talents have become a global focus. This project plans to invite two students for internships at the Sustainable Energy and Aerosol Technology Lab (SEAT Lab) in Department of Environmental Engineering, National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan. Candidates are invited to join SEAT Lab in Taiwan before December 31st in 2024 for a 4 to 6-month exchange program.
2. Supports Each participant will receive a monthly stipend of NT$15,000 (approximately USD 500), totaling NT$60,000 to NT$90,000 (approximately USD 2000 to 3000) for the entire duration. Please be advised that the funding does not cover round-trip airfare. Participants will be accommodated in the student dormitories of National Cheng Kung University during their stay. All the accomendation fee will be covered by TEEP project funds.
3. Duty
(1) Participate in both regular and ad-hoc academic discussion meetings of the SEAT Lab.
(2) Engage in research project work at the SEAT Lab.
(3) Assist in conducting research experiments, computational simulations, result analysis, and part of the work related to research publication.
4. The prospective research areas
(1) Catalytic gasification studies of biosolids.
(2) Investigation of PFAS characteristics in atmospheric aerosols in complex emission regions of coastal cities and towns.
(3) Analysis of particulate matter characteristics in the combustion emissions of nanoparticle-enhanced alcohol-ammonia-gasoline composite fuels. Depending on the timing of their stay, students may have the opportunity to engage in academic conferences, cross-team research, and other related activities in Taiwan.
5. Other requirements
(1) Proficient in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English.
(2) Bachelor's degree (or studying) in engineering or science-related fields, with a preference for environmental engineering, chemical engineering, or mechanical engineering.
(3) Familiarity with document processing, engineering drawing, and scientific data processing software.
(4) Possess a strong motivation for learning and acquiring knowledge.
(5) Good physical and mental health, with no known chronic illnesses or conditions that may affect academic pursuits.
