Overview:
Our Translational Medicine Internship Training Program, set in the heart of the post-genomic era, offers a unique and comprehensive journey into the world of medical research. This program is meticulously designed for those who are deeply passionate about life sciences and eager to make a significant impact in the field of translational medicine. As part of this transformative experience, participants will engage in an integrated curriculum that combines intensive professional lectures with hands-on laboratory internships. This blend of academic learning and practical training is enhanced by the invaluable opportunity to visit leading industries and biomedical institutions in Taiwan. These visits not only provide a window into the vibrant interplay between research and industry but also expand the participants' professional networks and perspectives on the real-world applications of translational medicine. Beyond the rigor of scientific inquiry, participants will immerse themselves in a rich tapestry of academic and cultural experiences. The journey extends into the heart of Taiwan’s cultural heritage, offering an enriching blend of knowledge and exploration that transcends the conventional classroom environment.

Program Structure:
1. Professional Lectures:
• Understanding the principles of translational medicine.
• Exploring the potential of translational research in developing new medications.
• Gaining basic knowledge in medical-related research, including molecular biology, drug design, preclinical development, and clinical trials.
2. Laboratory Internship:
• Opportunity to work under the guidance of a faculty member from TMU’s Translational Medicine Program.
• Training in laboratory skills, safety protocols, experimental design, data handling, and statistical analysis.
• A chance to conduct an oral presentation showcasing your research at the end of the internship.
3. Industrial and Biomedical Institutional Visits:
• Visits to leading industries and biomedical institutions in Taiwan.
• Learn about the collaboration between research institutes and biotech companies.
• Sites include the TMU core facility, Bio-Asia International Conference and Exhibition, Welgene Biotech Co. (Next-, 3rd-generation sequencing and single-cell sequencing server), and the National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center (NSRRC).

Eligibility and Requirements:
1. Background in life sciences or a related field.
2. Proficiency in English.
3. Commitment to complete the full two months duration of the program.
