【Course Introduction】 Surveillance for newly emerging viruses has always been globally valued. Our courses will help the students detect viruses using different molecular laboratory technologies. These basic techniques include Cell Culture, Virus Amplification, RNA Extraction, RNA Qualitative & Quantitative Analysis, RNA Reverse Transcription (RT), Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), Western Blot, Immunofluorescent Assay (IFA) and Viral Titer determination. Based on these experiments, students will be able to learn how to use use new technology to detect viruses and apply into field of medical research in the future. Our lab mainly focus on the study of Enterovirus and Influenza virus. Students will be able to learn basic virology knowledge, experimental skills and apply these practices to the field of medical research. Instructors will compile the experiment procedure, data analysis method, and lecture notes into a booklet. Hands-on molecular biology experiments and immunofluorescent microscope operation.
