This program is designed to guide students in learning about research on neurologic diseases, specifically focusing on tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC). This disease causes manifestations in multiple organs, including the brain. Most individuals with TSC develop epileptic seizures and may also experience comorbid neuropsychiatric disorders, such as learning deficits, autism spectrum disorder, and anxiety. We employ animal behavioral tests, brain MR imaging, immunostaining, and RNA sequencing to identify the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying the symptoms of TSC in genetic animal models. Additionally, we are investigating potential compounds for their therapeutic effects on the symptoms of TSC. The internship duration is 6 months, with a monthly living allowance of NT$15,000 provided. Eligibility is open to current or graduated students majoring in life sciences-related fields. Priority will be given during the review process to those who express a willingness to pursue further education in Taiwan.
