Laboratory of Molecular Neuroendocrinology, Department of Biology, National Changhua University of Education (NCUE), Taiwan is dedicated to the study of growth, reproduction, disease prevention of economically valuable crustaceans (crayfish, shrimp, crab, etc.). With state-of-the-art technique, including double-stranded RNA-based gene silencing, recombinant DNA production, transcriptomics and metabolomics, we are currently studying the mechanism of control of crustacean hosts by parasitic barnacle and infectious viruses, and devising molecular manipulation for inhibition of parasitization. We are well-connected with research laboratories abroad; students are encouraged to participate in our international collaboration project. Under the supervision of the lab principle investigator (Professor Chi-Ying Lee) and the assistance of lab co-workers, incoming interns will undertake an independent research project with which she/he receives professional training. Cultural program will be provided by the Office of International and Cross-strait Affairs, NCUE to help orient the incoming interns; in-campus dormitory is possible with advance reservation. The internship carries a stipend up to 6 months. After completing the internship, successful interns are encouraged to enroll in graduate degree programs at NCUE for advanced degrees, especially the “International Program for Master of Science in Materials and Biological Technology, and Science Education”, an interdisciplinary program specifically tailored for international students (https://sites.google.com/gm.ncue.edu.tw/ipmsen/home?authuser=0).

Interested students are invited to contact and send her/his résumé directly to Dr. Chi-Ying Lee (bicylee@cc.ncue.edu.tw).
