This program aims to develop effective drug delivery of medications using bio-MOFs, for drugs that are hard to deliver to targeted areas. It may also help in reducing drug adverse effects promoting patient compliance and medication adherence. This program exposes students to the MOF research field, especially for drug delivery applications, which is at the intersection of chemistry and pharmacy. This short-term program (3 months) also aims to give students a practical learning experience in basic research concept and techniques in the synthesis and characterization of bio-MOFs. This way, it may encourage students to pursue further studies in Taiwan. Aside from drug delivery, MOFs are highly versatile materials. If time permits, applications such as those for pollutant adsorption, gas separation, and catalysis may also be explored.
