I am pleased to welcome the outstanding Master degree students to join our internship program at the Advanced Membrane Materials Research Center (AMMRC) at the Graduate Institute of Applied Science and Technology in the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST). The internship program is for 6 months, starting from January 2024 to December 2024. AMMRC, at NTUST is a highly reputed membrane research center in the world, committed to outstanding research and supporting student’s growth.

During the internship, students will carry out laboratory research work under my supervision and they will be given an internship stipend 15000 NTD per month, including health center facilities at NTUST. In addition, students will have the opportunity to work closely with our experienced research members and gain practical knowledge. The experimental consumables and instruments are paid by us lab. Also at the end of the program, they will get an opportunity to publish high impact factor research article in their field of interest.

Students responsibilities may include but not limited to:
a) Assisting in projects
b) Conducting research analysis/data collection.
c) Team work with the lab members.
d) Participating in meetings and training sessions.

You may please contact me for any queries you may have regarding our internship program. I am looking forward to a positive response.

This year, at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) held in Dubai, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned that we are currently living in a state of impending climate collapse, urging countries worldwide to take more proactive climate measures. The ocean carries 40% of the world's carbon dioxide, leading to severe ocean acidification. Water scarcity and power shortages are two globally undeniable issues that cannot be addressed independently. We propose the technological development of multifunctional graphene-based membranes for environmental remediation (carbon dioxide reduction) and resource regeneration (water production, electricity generation), breaking away from traditional membrane design and forming methods. With a new perspective on membrane design, we aim to surpass the limits of existing single materials by combining the characteristics of two-dimensional materials. Smart response control will be employed to achieve environmental restoration and resource regeneration with a single membrane. The project is planned to span three phases. The first phases will focus on the structural design and modification of responsive graphene composite membranes, exploring the interface compatibility, selfpolarization principles, and physical and chemical properties between twodimensional materials and various responsive polymers. Additionally, efforts will be made in carbon conversion and hydrogen production catalyst synthesis. The second phases aims to optimize the performance of graphene-responsive membranes in solar distillation for water production, wave power generation, and piezoelectric-induced carbon dioxide reduction. Discussions will also be conducted on the correlation between the microstructure and electrochemistry of graphene composite membranes. In the third phases, based on graphene-based membranes, we plan to investigate the recent hot topic of piezoelectric catalytic hydrogen production mechanisms. Understanding the correlation between membrane hydrogen production and carbon conversion efficiency, we will establish a smart responsive graphene membrane information platform for environmental remediation and resource regeneration.
