As the world moves into a post-COVID era now, Taiwan needs to reconnect with the world. Thanks to Taiwan’s outstanding battle against COVID-19, sports and wellness tourism in Taiwan has developed during the pandemic. The program will lead the participants to explore and experience sports and wellness tourism, with adventure elements in Taiwan. By sharing booming trends and models in the Taiwanese tourism industry and exploring the underpinning concepts in tourism, the participants will be immersed in a cross-cultural context where the Taiwanese language, culture, and values are introduced. Upon the program's closure, it is hoped that such Taiwanese experience can benefit the participants’ overall international repertoire, broaden their eye horizon, and consider Taiwan for their future academic pursuits. The aim of this course is to lead the participants to explore the importance of culture and wellness in the 21st-century business world. Students will gain insight into cultural differences, study cultural theories, and appreciate wellness from a sociocultural perspective. Furthermore, with an English-only (or bilingual in Mandarin and English if necessary) teaching and learning environment, the participants are encouraged to practice their English skills and learn to overcome communication challenges with those with different cultural backgrounds. The accepted participants will be rewarded with a 12,500 NTD (around 400 USD) T.E.E.P. scholarship. The participants are required to stay a minimum of 35 days or longer. University housing, one bed in a four-person room, costs 9900 NTD/semester, 2200 NTD/month, 550 NTD/week, and 80 NTD/day, with Internet fee, 225 NTD/semester, 50 NTD/month, and 25 NTD/15 days and fewer. Participants with different academic, cultural, ethic, linguistic, backgrounds, and are currently studying in undergraduate program and interested in Taiwanese culture are encouraged to apply. Conversational English proficiency is a must, but Mandarin proficiency is desirable but not required.
