The Setaria viridis (L.) P.Beauv, an NADP-ME type C4 monocot species, is a new model organism for studying the C4 pathway in monocots due to its rapid generation time, small stature, high seed production, diploid status, and small genome size. The high-throughput screens of Setaria viridis mutants using chlorophyll fluorescence kinetic measurements will be applied in this project to identify mutants with a loss of C4 photosynthetic functions. The task of internship will be identification of mutated genes using next-generation sequencing and mapping.
