Dr. Nelson Lin's previous work involved international cooperation with researchers who have specialized in food extrusion and cereal processing technology over the past 20 years. Dr. Lin’s lab consists of various international students from Indonesia, India, Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam. The purpose of this laboratory is to study cereal processing and food extrusion technology. In this area, we focus on developing different extrudates, and plant-based meat analogues, using various cereals, starches, proteins, as well as Textured vegetable protein (TVP).
Under this program, students can receive comprehensive training in extrusion processing, including theory and practical training. This lab is well equipped with the following state-of-the-art equipment: Twin-Screw Extruder, Single-Screw Extruder, Collet Extruder. The time frame to visit Dr. Lin’s lab can be 3 months to 6 months. Interested students with a background in processing cereals and grains should contact Dr. Lin with a proper study plan. Responsible, independent, and self-motivated students who are eligible to join the lab for an internship will receive a monthly scholarship of NT$12, 000 to cover their travel and living expenses during their stay at NPUST.
As part of the program, students are given an opportunity to know what career opportunities are available in Taiwan after an internship. They are also given an opportunity to find a suitable degree program for the future after the internship. Email Dr. Lin @ teepnpust2023@gmail.com now for the application form, if you are interested.
