SEARCH PROGRAMS

Our team develops innovative assistive devices for developing countries to improve the health condition and quality of life of underprivileged communities. Through this program, we are looking for talented students who are passionate about doing innovative engineering projects for a cause.

Currently, our team is developing haptic-enhanced assistive devices for use in visually impaired and blind teaching and vocational training, medical training, industrial training, and advanced display technologies. Our project would include the use of biomedical image processing, biomedical signal processing, electronic circuit design, haptic, mechanics, machine learning, and AI.

Participants will join a project-based learning approach on the topic of Haptic Enhanced Assistive Devices at Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. Subsequently, they will be working with a young and vibrant team to learn about biomedical device design, design thinking, and prototyping. The program will be a hands-on, learning-by-doing approach with the goal of developing a prototype that you can bring home to further develop and implement in various communities. The participants will have the opportunity to participate in competitions and conferences. Desired outputs of this program would be developing solutions and implementing them in collaboration with institutes and NGOs in the ASEAN region, publishing journal papers, and joining competitions and international conferences.

We are looking for students with the following talents: For those interested in working with us on hardware projects, we are interested in the following skills: embedded systems, circuit design, wireless communication, mechatronics, haptics, tactile sensor design, conductive textile, and others. For those interested in working with us on software projects, we are interested in the following skills: Image processing, signal processing, cloud computing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, APP developer, database/server management programming languages, Virtual environment development: C, C#, Python, Matlab, LabVIEW, Android Studio, Java or Unity.

Successful applicants will be provided a NT$ 10,000~NT$ 15,000 living allowance. For those who would require assistance with accommodation, please inform the project head during the application.
