As a third-year Dutch college student studying Biology and Medical Laboratory Research at Hogeschool Rotterdam, we will follow a mandatory internship program in our fourth year of college. During the internship, we will do research in a university or a company that specialises in the research area to achieve. We do this to require a certain level of competencies for our graduation assignment. The competencies can differ from reading literature, conducting a scientific research, writing a work plan to being mindful how your actions can impact the working climate in a workspace and how to maintain a healthy workspace. The research that we have to conduct can vary greatly, but our main aim is to develop the said competencies. The internship will start in 2023, where I will start with an introductory visit to the internship. The following weeks after that, I will have to write a variety of different work plans in order to get a go/no-go to actually start my internship in the laboratory. With the funds I’m applying for, I can pay for my day-to-day expenses, such as housing and consumptions.
