Current Li-ion battery (LIB) is facing to serious safety issues caused by organic liquid electrolytes. All-solid-state battery (ASSB) using solid electrolytes can eliminate flammable components from LIBs and can solve the safety issues. In addition, metal anode can be applied for ASSBs, resulting in high energy density of ASSBs. Therefore, research on ASSBs has been performed intensively. In this project, solid electrolyte for ASSB is researched. The solid electrolyte is categorized into organic and inorganic materials. Among them, organic solid electrolyte is expected to be applied for ASSBs because of their soft and flexible natures which allow to create facile and low impedance electrolyte-electrode interfaces.

Thus, in this project, novel organic solid electrolytes are studied. The solid electrolyte is not simply characterized by electrochemical/chemical properties but also mechanical/thermal properties using state-of-the-art equipment in Battery Research Center of Green Energy. In the last, ASSBs are fabricated by using the novel solid electrolyte and examined their performances. Since ASSBs are expected as a post-LIB technology, a lot of research groups have researched them, and they are recognized as one of the critical research areas for post-LIBs. Thus, scholars will be gained knowledge and skills of ASSBs and obtained inevitable first-hand experience on ASSB research through the project. Accommodation would be provided.
