Professor Cheng’s primary research interests lie at the intersection of Cardiovascular Diseases, Nanomedicine, and Targeting Antibodies.
His extensive publication record highlights his multidisciplinary expertise across several innovative domains:
Nanomedicine and Cancer Therapeutics: Professor Cheng has developed advanced nano-strategies targeted at cancer therapy. This includes designing complex nanoparticles targeting the CD163 and exploring lipid-based nanomaterials for breast cancer drug delivery. Additionally, his earlier work demonstrated that single domain antibodies against CEACAM6 could inhibit the proliferation and invasion of pancreatic cancer cells.
Cardiovascular Biomarkers and Haptoglobin: A major focus of his career has been investigating the molecular mechanisms of cardiovascular diseases. He has extensively researched the role of haptoglobin in regulating inflammation to prevent atherosclerosis, as well as identifying biomarkers and pathogenic factor in abdominal aortic aneurysms.
Antibacterial Nanomaterials: He has significantly contributed to the development of nanoparticle-mediated antibacterial photodynamic therapies and gold-based nanostructures aimed at combating bacteremia and killing bacteria.
