Portable Colorimetric Sensing Program for PFAS Detection
Integrating Advanced Extraction, Spin-Based Centrifugation, and Nanomaterial Applications
Da-Yeh University invites international students to join a 4–8 month interdisciplinary research program focused on the development of portable, high-sensitivity colorimetric sensors for detecting per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). This program integrates improved extraction techniques, colorimetric reagents, and a finger-spinner-based centrifugal device, combined with nanomaterial-enabled sensing strategies.
The program is designed for students interested in Analysis and Sensing of Emerging Contaminants, Environmental Science and Engineering, and Environmental Applications of Nanomaterials. Participants will gain hands-on experience in analytical method development, portable device design, and environmental monitoring technologies.
Students will engage in experimental work involving PFAS extraction optimization, colorimetric detection mechanisms, and the application of nanomaterials to enhance sensitivity. The project also emphasizes practical implementation, including portable system integration and real-world environmental sample analysis.
