Our research group focuses on understanding and advancing next-generation energy storage systems by connecting fundamental materials science with real-world applications. The Department of Physics at Tamkang University welcomes motivated students from Southeast Asia to participate in a 3–6 month TEEP research internship, centered on “Development and Implementation of High-Performance Lithium-Ion Batteries.” Participants will receive a monthly stipend of 20,000 NTD while engaging in hands-on research within an active laboratory environment.

This program is designed to provide immersive training in both experimental techniques and scientific thinking. Students will be involved in ongoing research projects, working alongside our group members to investigate how material design influences battery performance. In addition to conventional laboratory training, participants will have the opportunity to access advanced synchrotron-based techniques, gaining exposure to large-scale research facilities that play a critical role in modern materials science.

Program Highlights

1. Synthesis of Functional Battery Materials

Students will participate in the preparation of lithium-ion battery electrodes, including cathode and anode materials. Through controlled synthesis, compositional tuning, and surface engineering, they will explore strategies to enhance electrochemical performance.

2. Electrochemical Testing and Evaluation

Participants will learn how to assemble battery cells and perform systematic electrochemical measurements. The training will emphasize the interpretation of cycling stability, rate performance, and degradation behavior.

3. Advanced Structural and Electronic Analysis

The program provides exposure to state-of-the-art characterization tools, including synchrotron-based X-ray techniques. Students will gain insight into how electronic structure and local atomic environments govern battery reactions at the microscopic level.

4. Data Processing and Research Presentation

Students will be guided through data analysis workflows and scientific writing, culminating in a final presentation that summarizes their research outcomes.

This internship is intended for students with a strong interest in energy materials and a willingness to engage in research-driven learning. Beyond technical training, the program offers a valuable opportunity to experience Taiwan’s academic environment and research culture, with the goal of encouraging participants to pursue future graduate studies and long-term collaboration in Taiwan.
