We are the best team to study the correlation between the scientific and practical applications of energy materials. The Department of Physics at Tamkang University invites talented students from Southeast Asia to join our intensive 3 to 6-month Short-term Research Internship at a stipend of 20,000 NTD/month. This program is designed to provide the opportunity to learn how to enter real science and gain knowledge and skills through in-situ experiments.

Program Highlights:

1. Membrane materials synthesis & modification: The concept of two-dimensional materials (graphene oxide and hBN) is considered a key for the development of basic substrates for energy materials. You and our Taiwanese student will work together to grow solid membrane materials from graphene oxide/hBN in the liquid phase. Using the annealing, electrochemical, UV-light, and vacuum approaches, the post-modification of the chemical and electronic structure can be identified using the microscopic (SEM, AFM, and FTIR) and spectroscopic (FTIR and X-ray) instruments.

2. Catalyst Integration & Characterization: The notion of the solution-based process is mentioned as an essential method for incorporating metal nanoparticles into the membrane materials. With your hand and ideas, we can fabricate free-standing and large-scale membranes to meet the requirements of recyclable, inexpensive green materials. Real-time measurements of electrochemical catalysis and water permeation can be detected using Membrane Inlet Mass Spectrometry (MIMS).

3. Advanced X-ray Analysis: The uniqueness of the microscopic and spectroscopic analysis is an advanced option for a deep understanding. Synchrotron-related approaches, including ambient-pressure X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and operando X-ray absorption spectroscopy, have been dedicated to advancing core science in energy materials. The step-in forward experience can make your career more significant from a different perspective.

Our TEEP internship seeks a candidate with deep curiosity about the energy materials project, which can help solve global issues related to alternative energy and CO2 storage/conversion. The know-how, knowledge, and hands-on approaches are demonstrated in our lab.
