National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), one of Taiwan’s leading research institutions, invites outstanding international students to participate in a short-term research internship under the Taiwan Experience Education Program (TEEP). This program, hosted by the Keng Research Group in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, focuses on advanced nanomedicine for cancer therapy, sustainable catalysis, and semiconductor interface engineering . It offers a rigorous, hands-on research experience aligned with Taiwan’s strategic strengths in semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and precision health.
Participants will engage in interdisciplinary research projects involving nanomaterials design, biomedical applications such as boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT), environmental catalysis, and next-generation microelectronics. The program integrates laboratory training, independent research, and academic presentation, providing exposure to both fundamental science and its industrial translation.
The internship duration ranges from approximately 6 to 12 weeks, with a minimum participation requirement of 2 months in accordance with TEEP regulations. The program includes an initial training phase, followed by supervised research and a final presentation. Interns will work closely with graduate student mentors and faculty, gaining practical experience in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific communication.
Participants will receive a monthly scholarship of at least NT$15,000, with potential adjustments based on performance and funding limits. Partial airfare support may be provided, subject to program allocation. Accommodation and daily living expenses (room and board) are primarily self-sponsored, although guidance and support for housing arrangements will be offered.
The program is open to undergraduate, master’s, and Ph.D. students in science and engineering disciplines, including materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, and related fields. Applicants should demonstrate strong academic performance, motivation for research, and sufficient English proficiency to participate in laboratory work and academic discussions.
Through this program, participants will gain advanced laboratory skills, develop interdisciplinary research capabilities, and build international academic networks. The experience also provides insight into Taiwan’s dynamic research ecosystem and its strong integration with high-tech industries, particularly in semiconductors and biomedical innovation.
