This internship program integrates the research capabilities of the Green Nano Research Center at National Pingtung University (NPTU) and the Institut Jean Lamour (IJL) at the University of Lorraine, France, further strengthening the long-standing collaboration between the two institutions in the field of spintronics. This international research initiative, jointly led by Prof. Hua-Shu Hsu of NPTU and Prof. Stephane Mangin, director of the IJL Spin Team—one of the leading spintronics research groups in the European Union—will focus on the development of next-generation silicon photonic light sources, specifically spin light-emitting diodes (Spin-LEDs).

To cultivate forward-thinking and interdisciplinary talent, NPTU collaborates with domestic industry partners to offer specialized research courses centered on silicon photonics and spintronic optoelectronic semiconductor technologies. Students will have opportunities to participate in lab training at the university and gain practical experience at institutions such as the National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center (NSRRC) and Advanced Optoelectronic Technology Inc. (AOT), thereby deepening their understanding of Taiwan's research landscape and industrial applications in nanofabrication and spin-optoelectronics.

Furthermore, Prof. Chia-Ho, Ou of NPTU has partnered with Compal Electronics to establish the Quantum Computing Research Center, dedicated to expanding educational resources in quantum computing. The center provides students with hands-on experience in advanced topics such as quantum annealing and fosters their understanding of critical emerging technologies.

The program also includes regular meetings with industry mentors, providing guidance on student research progress and offering career development insights. Through the integration of academic research and practical training, this program aims to nurture professionals with both R&D capabilities and industry-oriented mindsets, thereby contributing to Taiwan’s strategic advances in silicon photonics, spintronics, and quantum technologies.
