This project offers international students hands-on research experience in the isolation and characterization of natural products from medicinal plants, with a particular focus on saponin-rich herbal sources. Participants will be trained in essential laboratory techniques, including plant material preparation, solvent extraction, chromatographic fractionation, and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) for phytochemical analysis. Students will work closely with the research team to analyze phytochemical profiles and compare the distributions of bioactive compounds across different medicinal plant species. Through this process, participants will gain practical skills in natural product research, analytical chemistry, and experimental design.
The program duration is flexible, typically ranging from 2 to 3 months, in accordance with TEEP regulations. Applicants should be 3rd or 4th-year undergraduate students majoring in life sciences, pharmacy, chemistry, or related fields. Prior laboratory experience is preferred but not required. Participants are expected to have sufficient English proficiency for basic communication in a research environment.
A monthly stipend will be provided in accordance with TEEP guidelines. No application fee is required. Accommodation and living expenses are not included and should be covered by the participant unless otherwise arranged.
