Unlock the Future of Medicine: TEEP Internship in Computational Drug Discovery Are you ready to bridge the gap between chemistry, biology, and data science? Join our lab through the Taiwan Experience Education Program (TEEP) for a high-impact internship focused on the digital frontier of medicine. We are seeking ambitious international students to dive into the world of Chemoinformatics, Structural Bioinformatics, and Drug Discovery. ### Why Join Us? Our program offers a hands-on environment where you will apply computational tools to solve real-world pharmacological challenges. You won't just be watching; you’ll be building models and simulating molecular interactions that could lead to the next generation of life-saving drugs. ### Core Pillars of Your Internship * Chemoinformatics: Master the art of processing chemical data. You will work with large molecular libraries, utilizing QSAR models and molecular fingerprints to predict the properties of unknown compounds. * Structural Bioinformatics: Peer into the 3D world of proteins. You will analyze macromolecular structures, predict protein-ligand interactions, and understand the physical basis of biological functions. * Drug Discovery: Put it all together. From virtual screening to lead optimization, you will participate in the pipeline of identifying "hits" and refining them into potent drug candidates. ### What We Offer * Cutting-edge Research: Access real-life drug discovery computing and industry-standard software. * Mentorship: Direct guidance from experienced professors and researchers in the field. * Cultural Immersion: Experience the vibrant culture and world-renowned cuisine of Kaohsiung, Taiwan. * Financial Support: Selected candidates will receive approximately NT$500 per day (for up to 4 months) to cover living expenses during their stay. ### Who Should Apply? We are looking for undergraduate or graduate students with a background in: * Chemistry / Pharmacy (with an interest in coding/simulations). * Biological Sciences (with a focus on molecular mechanisms). * Computer Science (with an interest in life sciences). "The next blockbuster drug won't be found in a test tube alone, but in the algorithms that guide us there." ### How to Apply Ready to start your journey in Taiwan? Please email your CV/Resume and a brief statement of interest to the contact below. In your email, please specify your intended internship period (start and end dates). We look forward to reviewing your background and research goals! * Contact: Ying-Ting Lin (ytlin@kmu.edu.tw) * Location: Kaohsiung Medical University, Department of Biotechnology, Taiwan. * Duration: 3–6 months. * Scholarship: Approximately NT$500 per day (up to 4 months).
