This program aims to investigate the mechanisms and therapeutic potential of the gut–brain axis in the regulation of cognitive and mood disorders. By integrating probiotic interventions with non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS), this interdisciplinary training program provides participants with hands-on experience in behavioral neuroscience, microbiome analysis, and neuromodulation techniques. The program is designed to cultivate young international researchers by equipping them with the skills to design, perform, and analyze studies related to the gut–brain axis. The program has four main objectives: 1. To provide professional training in animal models of depression and anxiety, microbiome analysis, and non-invasive neuromodulation techniques. 2. To enhance participants’ abilities in experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation of gut–brain axis research. 3. To promote international academic exchange and collaboration between Taiwan and partner countries. Participants will undergo a structured training program at Chang Gung University, including: 1. Laboratory orientation and safety training 2. Hands-on training in animal behavioral experiments (e.g., depression and anxiety models) 3. Practical sessions on non-invasive brain stimulation 4. Weekly seminars, journal clubs, and data analysis workshops 5. Final presentation and written report Program Duration and Location Duration: 3–6 months (flexible within the program period) Location: Chang Gung University, Taiwan Eligibility This program is open to: 1. Undergraduate or master’s degree students in life sciences, biomedical sciences, physical therapy, or related fields 2. Applicants with an interest in neuroscience, rehabilitation, or microbiome research 3. International students Scholarship and Support 1. Monthly stipend: approximately NTD 15,000–20,000 2. Accommodation: dormitory assistance available 3. Additional support: laboratory training resources and research materials Expected Outcomes Participants will gain: 1. Hands-on research experience in neuromodulation and microbiome science 2. Improved interdisciplinary research skills and scientific literacy 3. Opportunities for international collaboration and academic networking
