This program is designed to foster international talent cultivation and interdisciplinary research collaboration in the fields of liquid crystal-based biomedical sensing, nanobiomaterial fabrication, biomedical microfluidics, and tissue engineering. Through this program, participating students will gain hands-on research experience, strengthen their experimental and analytical skills, and develop professional competence in emerging biomedical technologies. The expected benefits of this program include enhancing students’ practical research abilities and academic visibility, strengthening international collaboration between National Sun Yat-sen University and overseas academic institutions, promoting global academic exchange, and generating research outcomes such as joint journal publications, conference participation, research presentations, and science communication. Applicants with academic backgrounds related to biomedical science, chemical engineering, materials science, biotechnology, or other relevant disciplines are especially encouraged to apply. The program is scheduled to run from June 2026 to December 2026, and each participant is expected to stay for at least 3 months. Program Content 1. Core Training Courses Training will be arranged according to the student’s academic background and research level. Topics include nanomaterial fabrication and characterization, principles and applications of liquid crystal-based biomedical sensing, microfluidic chips and tissue engineering, research ethics, laboratory safety, academic writing, and presentation skills. 2. Laboratory Research Project Students will participate in interdisciplinary research projects under faculty supervision. Research topics may include liquid crystal biosensor development, preparation of liquid crystal nanoparticles and liquid crystal elastomers, cell culture, and gene delivery. Regular progress reports and final presentations will be required. 3. Cultural Exchange and Campus Experience The program will also include cross-cultural activities, language exchange opportunities, and local cultural experiences to help international students better engage with campus life and Taiwanese culture. Scholarship, Fees, Accommodation, and Living Arrangements Scholarship support (minimum TWD 15,000 per month) will be provided according to the regulations and budget of the TEEP program and host institution. Participants are expected to follow the administrative procedures and requirements announced before arrival. They also need to prepare for personal living expenses, airfare, visa application, and insurance unless otherwise specified by the program. Eligibility and Participation Requirements Applicants should be undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral students with relevant academic training and strong motivation for research. English communication ability is expected, as training, laboratory discussion, and academic presentation will be conducted primarily in English. Participants should also be willing to comply with laboratory safety regulations, research ethics requirements, and scheduled program activities. Completion of the program may require submission of a progress report, final presentation, or other research outputs.
