SEARCH PROGRAMS

This project aims to recruit two international graduate or undergraduate students (either currently enrolled or recently graduated) to participate in a six-month internship program conducted between May and October 2026. The program is specifically designed for students with a background in biomedical sciences; prior training in animal science or veterinary medicine will be considered an asset. Applicants are expected to demonstrate a strong interest in animal health, the One Health concept, and zoonotic infectious diseases, and to seek further development of professional skills and practical knowledge within an internationalized research environment. The internship will be hosted at the National Taiwan University Animal Resource Center, a first-tier research unit of National Taiwan University and a leading institution in Taiwan for laboratory animal research and resource management. The Center is equipped with comprehensive facilities and supported by an interdisciplinary professional team. During the internship, participants will receive hands-on training under the supervision of licensed veterinarians and animal care staff, acquiring competencies in laboratory animal care and handling techniques. Training will encompass basic veterinary care, health monitoring, animal welfare assessment, and pathological sampling, among other clinical practices. In addition, interns will gain in-depth exposure to the principles of Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement (3Rs) and become familiar with current international trends in laboratory animal use, thereby enhancing the ethical rigor and efficiency of experimental design. The internship curriculum integrates academic learning with practical experience. Interns will not only observe and participate in the routine care of laboratory animals but will also be involved in One Health–related research projects, allowing them to explore in depth the complex interactions between human and animal health.
