The motivated intern is welcome to join our research laboratory, based at the medical campus of National Cheng Kung University in Tainan, Taiwan. Interns will gain hands-on experience with the in vitro cell culture system and with the analysis of molecular mechanisms using biochemical, biomechanical, and molecular and cell biological methodologies. Approximately NTD 15,000/month of full-time internship scholarship will be provided (subject to program regulations). The applicants should arrange their own accommodation, health insurance, and living arrangements, but assistance will be provided. Our research primarily focuses on understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms that operate under both physiological and pathological conditions and on developing potential clinical applications. We are particularly interested in the biological functions of cell membrane glycoproteins, specifically those belonging to the C-type lectin domain family 14 proteins. We investigate the following questions: 1. Tubulogenesis in endothelial and epithelial cells 2. Vascular biology (angiogenesis, inflammation, atherosclerosis, and aortic aneurysm) 3. Wound repair and regeneration (skin, eye, spinal disk, and kidney) 4. Tumor biology (metastasis and vascular mimicry)
