The Sustainable Building Material Lab at the Feng Chia University will be accepting 1 Research Affiliate position for the 2026 academic year: June to December. The Sustainable Building Material Lab conducts interdisciplinary research on both organic and inorganic construction materials, with a focus on bio-based and low-carbon material systems. Current research includes the development of bamboo-fiber substrates for mycelium-based thermal insulation and carbon-sequestering geopolymer composites. These material systems are investigated across multiple architectural and infrastructural scales, ranging from building envelope components and precast structural floor systems to site-specific landscape and environmental installations. The lab emphasizes systematic material research, quantitative performance evaluation, and fabrication process assessment, with the goal of translating advanced material research into deployable construction technologies that address environmental impact, resource efficiency, and broader societal challenges.
