Join an immersive, research-driven ecological training program in Taiwan that integrates cutting-edge science, hands-on fieldwork, and international collaboration. This program is designed for students seeking to understand and solve real-world environmental challenges, with a focus on marine plastic pollution and its ecological and human health implications. During the residency period, regular Taiwan–international student seminars and workshops will be arranged to foster academic exchange, interdisciplinary thinking, and global networking. You will engage in a unique curriculum that combines theoretical foundations with access to leading research facilities, including National Taiwan Ocean University, National Taiwan University, Academia Sinica, and National Sun Yat-sen University. The program also includes visits to national research vessels, offering rare opportunities to experience offshore scientific operations. Participants will conduct field sampling across diverse coastal environments in Taiwan, gaining first-hand experience of its unique marine ecosystems. Through these activities, you will develop practical skills in environmental sampling, analytical techniques, and data interpretation. The curriculum further covers key topics such as the transport and fate of marine plastics, AI-based modeling and prediction, ecological and human health risk assessment, and innovative microplastic mitigation technologies. Program Highlights: *Monthly scholarship: NTD 15,000 *Duration: Minimum 2.5 months *Accommodation support: Assistance with university dormitory applications *Hands-on experience: Multiple field sampling campaigns across Taiwan *Research vessel access: Opportunities to participate in offshore expeditions and onboard scientific operations *International environment: Collaborative learning with students and researchers from Taiwan and abroad This program offers a rare combination of field-based learning, advanced research exposure, and international engagement—preparing you to become a future leader in marine environmental science and sustainability. Eligibility & Requirements: *Undergraduate (junior/senior), Master’s, or PhD students in environmental science, marine science, ecology, chemistry, geology, or related disciplines *Strong interest in marine plastic pollution, biogeochemistry, or environmental sustainability *Ability to communicate in English (all courses, discussions, and field activities are conducted in English) *Willingness to participate in field sampling, including coastal surveys and offshore research cruises
