Evolutionary Approaches and Genetic Engineering for Advancing Mitochondrial Health is an international research training program at Taipei Medical University for students interested in mitochondrial biology, genetics, genomics, and biomedical research. Hosted in Dr. Han-Ying Jhuang’s lab, the program uses yeast as a model system to study mito-nuclear interactions, respiratory function, and the genetic basis of mitochondrial health and dysfunction. Trainees will gain hands-on experience in yeast genetics, experimental evolution, CRISPR, cloning, phenotypic assays, next-generation sequencing, RNA-seq, and bioinformatics. The program is designed for motivated students who want rigorous research training in a supportive environment and who are interested in both fundamental biology and its potential biomedical applications.
