We are looking for motivated students who view this internship as a stepping stone to future academic pursuits in Taiwan. At the Biomolecular Structures and Drug Development Laboratory, we investigate the structural intricacies of biomolecules to bridge the gap between fundamental science and translational medicine. Our research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms of proteins and nucleic acids involved in the pathogenesis of human diseases. We utilize these pathogenic structures as targets for discovering the potential of naturally occurring small-molecule ligands to modulate disease states. Leveraging our expertise in structural biology, biophysical and biochemical methods, and cellular studies, we are developing novel therapeutic modalities. Through this internship, we aim to: 1. Establish a rigorous training framework combining theory and experimental research in structural biology and therapeutic development. 2. Cultivate student expertise in protein and nucleic acid structural analysis, characterization, and rational drug design. 3. Foster international collaborations for joint research, co-supervision, and student mobility. Desired education level: Current undergraduate students majoring in Biology, Pharmacy, Biochemistry, or Biotechnology. Language requirement: English proficiency is required. Support & Costs: A monthly scholarship is available (up to NT$15,000/month). Please note that airfare, insurance, and housing are not covered. Student accommodation in the university dormitory is available (self-paid).
