The program aims to train bright students with a background in Physics/Chemistry/ Electrical Engineering/Optics/Photonics/Materials Science, in the synthesis and application of functional nanomaterials. The synthesis would require basic knowledge of chemistry, and vapour deposition techniques (not essential). Optical spectroscopies such as absorption, fluorescence, and Raman spectroscopy would be taught. Common electrical measurements (current-voltage) would be taught if the project requires it. The use of light/lasers is fundamental to all of these projects. Applications would include photodetections, photothermal conversion, catalysis, and sensing.
