1. Program Objectives The primary objective of this program is to cultivate interdisciplinary competencies among international students by integrating gut microbial analysis, computational imaging, and precision nutrition for pediatric health applications. The program aims to train participants in advanced laboratory techniques and data analytics to explore how gut microbiota, diet, and digital health technologies can contribute to the early detection and personalized management of functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGIDs) and related conditions in children. 2. Internship and Research Project Students will join an ongoing research project related to pediatric functional gastrointestinal disorders. Activities include: • Conducting laboratory experiments on microbiota analysis and metabolomics. • Analyzing stool image datasets using computational tools. • Integrating biological and digital data to develop predictive models for stool consistency and gut health. • Presenting findings in a final symposium with NTNU faculty and collaborators. The internship encourages teamwork, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and problem-solving in a real research setting. 3. Participation Requirements • Applicants should have an academic background in nutrition and health, medicine, or computer science. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in spoken English to effectively participate in academic and research activities. • We seek motivated individuals with strong self-learning ability, critical thinking skills, and a genuine interest in interdisciplinary research. Applicants should have clear academic goals and be willing to pursue a Master’s or Ph.D. degree at National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU). • Prior research experience, familiarity with data analysis, or interest in areas such as health science, biomedical research, or artificial intelligence applications in healthcare will be considered an advantage.
