The world is currently facing the challenges of an aging population and declining birth rates, prompting a global trend towards digitalization and smart technology in industrial development. This trend is also prevalent in the field of medical assistive devices. Taiwan is set to integrate smart technology assistive devices into its National Health Insurance coverage and subsidies by 2026. According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare, these devices should feature intelligent sensing, data recording, and a feedback transmission mechanism, facilitating the advancement of remote and integrated home-based health care.
The WiseLAB is actively seeking talented scholars interested in medical devices and smart health care applications. We are inviting students from fields such as information technology, electrical engineering, medicine, and engineering to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration. Our projects include nutrition management robots, pharmaceutical storage management systems, and intelligent edema management systems. These projects benefit from the collaboration between hospital clinical experts and partners from academia and industry, who provide professional guidance. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in practical work, compete in competitions, and contribute to research publications.
Outstanding participants may receive invitations for further studies in Taiwan, contributing to the development of talent in the field of medical engineering. The lab currently includes about 7 graduate students, of which 5 are international, and more than 10 undergraduate project students.
