The Marine Sediment Monitoring, Recycling, and Utilization program aims to address growing marine pollution issues. This is the program's second year when young scientists from the Philippines were nurtured for high-level sediment research. This year, young Southeast Asian talents are cordially invited to join and develop innovative ideas in marine sediment monitoring, remediation, and recycling. This program is hosted by the Center for the Study of Sediments of the National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology (southeastern part of Taiwan), known for marine sediment research, equipped with traditional and advanced facilities, and manned with a group of well-published and highly competitive scientists. Besides sediment research, our laboratory works on environmental and ecological processes, integrating environmental and ecological data to model the impacts of pollution on aquatic biota.
Masters’ or senior Master's students in marine science, marine environmental engineering, fisheries, and related fields can participate in this 6-month program, mainly but not limited to NKUST partner universities from Southeast Asian countries. The students can receive a monthly stipend of 12,000 NTD. Everyone is welcome to join our research and experience the Taiwanese culture and southern Taiwan’s picturesque.
