Program Overview: This program uses statistical methods to integrate multi-satellite remote sensing data with fisheries information, exploring how oceanic changes affect the catch rates of highly migratory fish. It aims to predict optimal fishing grounds, analyze climate impacts, and assess how global warming may shift fish distributions—providing key insights for fisheries management. Students will work with long-term data from WCPFC and IATTC, gaining hands-on experience in data analysis and species distribution modeling. The program supports independent research skills and aims to attract international talent, strengthen scientific networks, and promote long-term global collaboration.
The program combines coursework and hands-on training. Students will learn R programming, population ecology, and fisheries management, gaining skills in data analysis and ecological modeling. Practical work includes analyzing fisheries data, processing satellite ocean data, and building species distribution models—developing well-rounded research and critical thinking skills in fisheries science.
Scholarship: TEEP Scholarship: NTD 72,000 (NTD 12,000/month, up to NTD 15,000/month for 6 months)
Program Fee: NTD 15,000 for 180 days Accommodation: NTU can assist in applying for on-campus dormitories; however, there is not guaranteed. If dorms are unavailable, students will need to arrange off-campus housing on their own.
