With the rapid surges in urbanization, industrialization, and human activity, PM2.5 has garnered significant attention around the globe. PM2.5 is known to be a potential risk factor for the progression of diabetes, particularly type 2 diabetes (T2D). Guilu Erxian Jiao (GEJ), a traditional Chinese medicine containing deer antlers and turtle shells, has been shown to have multiple health benefits, including glucose regulation. Given the synergistic association between PM2.5 levels and T2D prevalence, as well as the therapeutic properties of GEJ, this study used treatment of PM2.5 and glucose to assess the mitigating effects of GEJ intervention in human cells especially for the new methods to recover the harmful effects like would healing and decrease of antioxidants.
The internship students will need to learn how to sampling PM2.5, cultivate human cells, and assess the health risks within 6 months. In this project, we will provide 15,000 NTD per month stipend for 6 months. The expenses will need to be covered flight and dormitory costs within this amount. NPUST will provide the accommodation for the internship student in NPUST campus. In the first 3 months, the NPUST dormitory costs will be waived.
