This program offers undergraduates from any major the opportunity to spend six months in Taipei working on cutting-edge yeast research with a focus on human disease models. The core project uses yeast as a cost-effective, high-throughput system to explore genetic variants, develop experimental disease models, and identify potential therapeutic leads. By leveraging tools such as CRISPR-based cytoduction (“CRIS-cross”) and targeted experimental evolution, participants will gain hands-on experience in genome editing, large-scale screening, and evolutionary genetics.
