In Taiwan, people always say Yilan is a place with “beautiful mountain, pure water, and rich culture”. The extraordinary Mother Nature has created countless beautiful scenery. The main campus is located in Yilan City, about 50 minutes from Taipei by car. The Department of Civil Engineering in NIU is academically active and there are many workshops and conferences held regularly which exchange with scholars worldwide. In particular, we have innovative civil materials in green technology (Geopolymer, Non-cement Blended Composites, Cementitious Materials), green technology (Waste disposal in Civil Materials, Microstructural Properties in Cementitious Materials) and Durability (Permeability, Corrosion Technology, Measurement Technology in Chloride Diffusion) courses offered, which provide students with more chances to get into the field of green materials in civil engineering. There is an obvious trend of growing energy and materials related development in the world nowadays which has a huge impact on everyone’s daily life. The study of green materials in civil engineering can definitely help to promote the quality of human life and make the environment friendlier. Via the TEEP/AsiaPlus program, we offer short term (2-6 months) scholarships to qualified students with a monthly stipend of up to 15000 New Taiwan Dollars for studying in NIU. The students will be guided by professors (Wei-Ting Lin) in green materials personally and participate in projects, courses, and academic activities related to green materials in civil engineering.
