Investigation of optical and electronic properties of materials is important for exploring the unknown region of physics. The layered materials have unique physical properties that make it possible to have strong light-matter interaction especially for valley selection when the excitation light is circularly polarized light. The project will include the structured light possessing spin and orbital angular momentum interacting of layered materials and study the spatial localization of the exciton excited by structured light. The structured light generation can be achieved by several technical methods including laser cavities, spatial light modulators, vortex phase plates, and metasurfaces. Work in our lab will learn complete optical skills to construct high quality structured light possessing spin and orbital angular momentum. Meanwhile the homemade optical equipment training process provides a complete understanding for the nondestructive inspection of Raman and photoluminescence spectrum applied to layered materials. Photons, eletrons, excitons, phonons, and polaritons in layered materials can be further studied by using structured light possessing orbital angular momentum as a new degree of freedom. Many interesting physical properties of layered materials could be explored. Learning in our lab will be supervised in individual and group meetings and you will have a solid research experience and friendly memories in Taiwan. The program wants to recruit a graduated student from India or Vietnam. Internship time is from June 1st to November 30th 2020. The intern will be taught by a mentor and instructions for equipment will be provided by experts in the field.
